HISTORY OF GRFS
Originally formed in March of 2014 by David Blakeslee and Patrick Goff as a way to create a community for repertory, classic, and art house film lovers to congregate and explore films.
Then in 2016, Spectacle Creative re-launched the GRFS, with a mission of creating a community of appreciation and support of the region's film culture. Producing special screenings, signature events and promoting the region’s cinematic storytellers.
In 2020, GRFS was transferred to its new home at Wealthy Theatre; a proud venue of the Grand Rapids Community Media Center, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization dedicated to building community through media. After the Covid-19 lock-down and venues reopened, WT relaunched the program in 2022 to foster connection in the film community and unique cinematic experiences for West Michigan.
